KEEP CALM AND MIND YOUR COMMUNITY: BLACK CARPET redefines the library as a continuous boundary space that links various functional areas, creating an environment where residents can explore knowledge and connect with one another in a calm and open setting. This boundary space seamlessly integrates diverse programs, allowing users to navigate fluidly through the library while encouraging thoughtful interaction. More than a simple corridor, BLACK CARPET is designed to promote quiet reflection and mindful communication, establishing a community space built on mutual respect and understanding.

BLACK CARPET plays a central role as a communal core, connecting major areas while enhancing the library’s spatial identity and coherence. Through organic linkages with different programs, BLACK CARPET not only addresses spatial limitations but also strengthens the library’s identity as a cohesive, inclusive space. This boundary area blurs physical separations, transforming the movement between areas into a continuous, expansive spatial experience that encourages social exchange and a new concept of coexisting in a shared public space.

Beyond being a transitional pathway, BLACK CARPET reshapes how visitors perceive and interact within the library. By connecting spaces in a way that softens boundaries, BLACK CARPET enhances spatial usability and allows the library’s services to operate with greater flexibility. With its strategic role, BLACK CARPET becomes a defining element of the library, inviting users to engage in mindful exploration and fostering an atmosphere of quiet cohabitation. This design ultimately offers a reimagined approach to boundary spaces, providing an innovative architectural response to the evolving needs of a community.
